WHEN has put an emphasis on educating individuals, families, pastors, teachers, and the community is the key to prevention, intervention, treatment and long term recovery from domestic violence and other forms of abuse. Although we did not have the the Being There Conference during 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, we conducted three healing and empowerment community support group sessions.

Each of the support group sessions lasted eight weeks and were designed to provide education and support to individuals in need of recovery from religious and spiritual abuse. Topics of discussion included, “Recovery From Fear”, “Recovery From Shame”, and “Recovery from Distorted Images of Self.” The group meetings were held at a private residence on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., and after each session, group members enjoyed social time and a delicious meal.

Since others wanted to join the group we needed to find a larger space to accommodate the group’s expansion and continue to practice social distancing.

The Hillyard Baptist Church is kindly accommodating us. We are able to use Church facilities to conduct for the following support groups:

(1) WHEN Fellowship for clients and supporters on the 1st and 3rd Friday evening of each month, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

(2) WHEN Christians in Recovery Support group for individuals seeking recovery from religious and spiritual abuse on Saturday afternoons, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.

(3) Men of Compassion Support Group for men who are seeking healing and empowerment from various forms of abuse and recovery from the cycle of dysfunctional family practices. This group will meets the 2nd and 4th Friday evenings at 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
